“Extranjeros en tiempos revueltos”: figuras de lo extraño/extranjero en la telenovela Amar en tiempos revueltos

Abstract

The article analyses the “foreign” characters that appear throughout the first three seasons of the Spanish telenovela Amar en tiempos revueltos. These characters come to “stir” the Francoist post-war society in different ways, articulating socio-historical conflicts in the plot, but also referring to current problems. The conceptual framework is shaped by the genre itself – an “assimilated foreigner” in Spain – which, with its particular narrative code, structures the conflicts and their solutions.
